Lets Take a quick look under the hood of the ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT

The processor is a fairly quick and powerful Intel Atom N450 with a L2 Cache, 1.66GHz, 512KB.  This gives you enough power to run many of your favorite programs. Since this netbook only comes with 1 GB of memory I would suggest to purchase additional memory so that you are using the full 2GB which is the maximum capacity.  As with your desktop computer or full size laptop the additional memory will allow you to do more in less time plus helps with mulit-tasking.

The Hard Drive on the ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT is a very decent sized 250GB SATA  so you can store you favorite music or videos without worry about filling up the hard drive too quickly. It also has 2 USB ports so that you can always hook up your portable hard drive to transfer files to and from your main computer.

There are a slot for your flash drive.

Wifi is built in and you will find that it is quick and easily finds your internet connection. You do however have to manually turn the internet off after using it by clicking a few keys instead of a dedicated on and off switch but that's no big deal, especially if you ever had an internet button get stuck on you and could not get on the internet until you brought in in for repair. Then using keyboard keys makes more sense.

Talking about the keyboard, you will notice that it is about 95% of  standard size and although this is larger than many netbooks, it may take you a day or two to get used to the keys. Once you use it for a few days, a regular sized keyboard appear to be too slow since the keys are spaced further apart.  So in a way that's a big plus.

The ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT does have integrated speakers, webcam and microphone.  The speakers are on the underside of the netbook so if you are use to always listening to tunes while you work you may want to invest in a set of  Portable Netbook Speakers They are low cost, small  and travel well.  If you are not a huge music perfectionist then the integrated speakers will do just fine.

The ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT weighs in at just 2.8 pounds so it's so easy to travel with. Its also a great netbook if you like to use the wifi at coffee shops since it has a small foo tprint of 10.3 x 7 ( its also only 1.4 inches thick) and the battery will last about 3 and a half hours. The specs on the ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT state 4 hours are the approximate battery life, but you'll find that you probably will see 30 minutes or so less.

This netbook does come with Windows 7 starter edition and you can upgrade to the Home Premium, so that is a choice that you should think about. If you are going to use the ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT as a second machine, for traveling, classes and browsing the internet and reading email then the starter edition is fine.  However, if you want to use this netbook for more than that then you may want to upgrade. I believe that the upgrade runs about $80 as of this writing.

Although there is more to see about this little wonder, I think that you have a good idea of why it is so popular and why many are totally surprised at the low cost.
